Wood Furniture Care
Dining Tables, Bar Tops, and Casegoods
Belle Meade Signature wood products are finished with a durable pre-catalyzed lacquer designed to protect the surface while highlighting the natural beauty of the wood.
Routine Cleaning
For regular cleaning, we recommend the following methods:
Option 1 – Mild Soap and Water
- Use a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap.
- Wipe the surface gently.
- Immediately dry with a clean, soft cloth.
Option 2 – Glass Cleaner
- Spray a small amount of Windex onto the surface.
- Wipe with a microfiber cloth.
- Always wipe in the same direction as the wood grain.
Routine dusting with a soft cloth is usually all that is required between cleanings.
Spills and Stains
While the finish provides protection, certain substances may stain the surface if left too long.
- Wipe spills promptly.
- Avoid leaving liquids or food substances on the surface for extended periods.
- As a guideline, substances should not remain on the surface longer than four hours.
Protecting the Finish
To maintain the beauty of your furniture:
- Use coasters, placemats, and trivets.
- Never place hot cookware directly on the wood surface.
- Use felt pads under decorative objects or accessories.
- Avoid items with rubber bases that may trap moisture.
Environmental Considerations
Wood is a natural material and may respond to environmental changes.
- Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight, which can cause fading.
- Keep furniture away from air vents, fireplaces, or humidifiers.
- Maintain a consistent indoor temperature and humidity level when possible.
Extreme temperature or humidity changes may cause wood to expand or contract.
Products to Avoid
Do not use:
- Silicone waxes
- Lemon oil or oily polishes
- Abrasive cleaners or scouring pads
These products can damage or build up on the finish over time.
Quartz Surface Care
Quartz is a durable, non-porous surface that requires minimal maintenance.
Daily Cleaning
- Wipe the surface with a soft cloth or microfiber towel.
- Use warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap if needed.
- Dry the surface with a clean cloth.
Cleaning Spills
Quartz is stain resistant, but spills should still be cleaned promptly.
- Wipe with a damp cloth.
- Use mild dish soap for substances such as coffee, wine, or oils.
- Rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
Removing Dried Residue
If residue has dried on the surface:
- Use warm water and mild soap.
- If necessary, gently remove residue using a plastic scraper or plastic card.
- Wipe clean and dry.
What to Avoid
To protect the quartz surface, avoid:
- Abrasive cleaning pads or powders
- Harsh chemicals such as bleach or oven cleaners
- Highly acidic or alkaline cleaners
- Steel wool or scouring pads
Heat Protection
Quartz is heat resistant but not heat proof. Always use trivets or hot pads when placing hot cookware on the surface.
General Care Tips
- Dust and clean surfaces regularly.
- Avoid dragging heavy or sharp objects across the surface.
- Use protective pads under décor items when possible.
With proper care, your Belle Meade Signature furniture will continue to provide beauty and enjoyment for many years.
